Describe your personal design aesthetic in one word.

Minimalist

What essentially comes first? The logo, colour scheme, or font?

“Personally, I think deciding on the colour palette that you wish to emanate from your brand is a priority. This will provide you a vision and a concrete direction with regards to your brand’s aesthetic.”

What advice can you give real estate agencies who wish to have their branding revamped?

“Stick to timeless design. Trend hopping across various design aesthetics tend to sacrifice the entirety of the brand in the long run. What’s trending at the moment may not work for your brand in the future, which results in the lack of consistency.”

What important elements should real estate agents/agencies keep in mind when having their real estate collaterals designed and or printed?

“Having a clear objective is so important as it leads you to your target market. Is your Real Estate Agency focused on properties across the coast? Therefore, having a coastal feel with your general branding will help clients distinguish and remember you a lot easier. Do you wish for your brand to emanate luxury and class? Having the right font, colour, and aesthetic with your marketing collateral will justify your agency’s image.

Which among the Digital Central Australia products (namely brochures, stationery, and signage) do you like designing the most and why?

“I’m absolutely keen on designing A4 6-page Trifold Booklets! There’s more liberty to design because of the wide space areas.”

One design tip for everyone.

“Always keep the client in mind.”

Alen David

In need of marvelous designs?

Alen is THE MAN.

Describe your personal design aesthetic in one word.

“Neutral. I tend to be versatile according to what the client’s needs and wants.”

What essentially comes first? The logo, colour scheme, or font?

“In my opinion, it would be the logo which I consider as the main character of your brand’s story. It’s the central and integral part of your entire branding from the largest scale materials down to the tiniest bit, a brand’s logo is always present.”

What advice can you give real estate agencies who wish to have their branding revamped?

“At present, brands usually play upon the minimalist, crisp, and clean approach which I personally prefer. The majority of our clients here at Digital Central are in the real estate industry. Catering to clients that make big purchase decisions such as buying a home or selling a property, the classic, luxurious, and clean design for their materials perfectly suit their industry.

Based on my work experience as a graphic designer for a hotel, the right marketing materials and collateral tend to attract your target market. Design is more than just about aesthetics. It differentiates you and your customers in the market.”

What important elements should real estate agents/agencies keep in mind when having their real estate collaterals designed and or printed?

“One of the major things that agents should keep in mind when having their real estate design and marketing materials printed is the size. Agents should consider the overall impact of their materials when deciding on the size. Here at Digital Central, we make sure that our clients have a wide variety of sizes and types to choose from when it comes to their prints. There’s always a perfect size that corresponds to their needs.

Another big thing for me is the completion of details. It would save us a lot of time and hassle (for both the designer and the client) if the design brief is complete and concise.

Lastly, the bleed. Most agencies tend to overlook the bleed which is a very important element in printing and design. Still not convinced with the importance of the bleed? Just imagine having strips of white paper showing on the edges of your print when cut to size.”

One design tip for everyone.

“Be keen on the details.”

What’s your take as a professional graphic designer in a world where Canva is believed to make design jobs a lot easier, faster and cost-efficient?

“The idea of Canva is to create and produce bite-size content which is easy and fast to consume. I often see small-scale businesses use Canva for their social media materials, which can be a good thing as they save valuable time and money. However, it also has a downside of having a similar look or content with other businesses. The use of Canva for professional usage, especially for printing purposes should also be taken with a grain of salt. Always take note of the quality, the colour modes, the styles, and other technicalities that only designers are keen on. Furthermore, designers can customise so many things for their clients, much more than what a Canva Pro subscription can offer.

Which among the Digital Central Australia products (namely brochures, stationery, and signage) do you like designing the most and why?

“I would definitely go for brochures. I find designing brochures enjoyable and very easy to manage. No matter what the design brief is, regardless of size, and folds, designing brochures is something I’m expertly experienced with.”

Describe your personal design aesthetic in one word.

Minimalist. It’s so simple and easy on the eyes.

What essentially comes first? The logo, colour scheme, or font?

“I think deciding on your Corporate Identity as an agency or as a business should be the main priority as it solidifies everything that follows the branding. From the largest scale marketing material down to the smallest one, your Corporate Identity will be your basis for mainly everything.

What advice can you give real estate agencies who wish to have their branding revamped?

“The first thing that I ask a client whenever I’m given a certain design job is if they have some references and pegs. This helps me figure out what direction they wish to go for their real estate design and marketing needs.”

Which among the Digital Central Australia products (namely brochures, stationery, and signage) do you like designing the most and why?

“I love designing Auction Paddles and Flags, the ultimate package for our client’s open homes and auctions.”

What important elements should real estate agents/agencies keep in mind when having their real estate collaterals designed and or printed?

“Providing your designers with the hi-resolution logos, fonts, colour palette, print-ready images and basically, your style guide will make the work easier, faster, and more efficient.”

One design tip for everyone.

“Never stop learning.”

What’s your take as a professional graphic designer in a world where Canva is believed to make design jobs a lot easier, faster and cost-efficient?

“In this era of saturated content, too much media and noise, our clients should be thinking: “Any material that I put out there, whether digital or print, should stand out for my business to have an edge.” The usage of Canva is okay if kept to a minimum because there’s so much more to explore and discover in terms of design.”
